Escort to Heaven

Escort to Heaven

In the last two articles, we referred to the Holy Spirit as a mantle.  The Holy Spirit helps us in many different ways such as guide, comforter, advocate, empowerer, inspirer and teacher.  The Holy Spirit also acts as our escort at times. We can be transported both to other places on Earth or to Heaven as the Spirit wills.

Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the voice of a great earthquake: “Blessed be the glory of the Lord from its place!” It was the sound of the wings of the living creatures as they touched one another, and the sound of the wheels beside them, and the sound of a great earthquake (Ezekiel 3:12-13 ESV).

He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. The Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and in visions of God he took me to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the idol that provokes to jealousy stood (Ezek 8:3).

So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea (Acts 8:38-40 NKJV).

It is possible for our born-again spirits to visit Heaven!  We do not have to wait to die before we can get a glimpse of our future home.  As citizens of Heaven, we can ask the Holy Spirit to take our spirit to Heaven for a visit.  We are able to peek at whatever Yehovah chooses to reveal to us, often pertaining to a way He wants to heal or strengthen us, or to an assignment that He has for us. Sometimes He gives us a glimpse into the future.

When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal. Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to Bethel.” … As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. Elisha saw this and cried out, “My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore it in two (2 Kings 2:1-2, 11-12)

I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to gain, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of it I do not know, but God knows. And I know that this man—whether in the body or out of it I do not know, but God knows—was caught up to Paradise. The things he heard were too sacred for words, things that man is not permitted to tell (2 Cor 12:1-4)

It takes a little practice for most of us.  We have to get our souls to take a back seat for a while and let our spirits take over.  This is a good exercise in and of itself because we need to be led by our spirit which has been sealed and is perfect.  Our body and soul should submit to our spirit since they are not perfected.  We know that our bodies will die and eventually we will have new bodies at the resurrection.  Our souls are not yet perfected because we are still capable of sin.  In fact, one of our duties after being born again is to renew our minds.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect (Rom 12:2).

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things (Phil 4:8).

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day (2 Cor 4:16)

The teachings of Patricia King and Ana Werner helped us as we began our quest to visit Heaven.  We also had help along the way from many other teachers and authors. We started by spending 10-15 minutes a day whenever we remembered.  Gradually, we became more consistent and now spend a longer period of time each morning visiting Heaven.  We have found it helpful to journal about our visits.  We can review what has been revealed to us.  During trials or whenever we feel discouraged, it is encouraging and inspiring to read former journal entries.

Some people have serious concerns about visiting Heaven because it sounds like New Age or something similar.  Actually, New Age provides counterfeit experiences.  The enemy copies whatever Yehovah does and distorts what is true in order to deceive others. Because of the counterfeit, some people avoid what Yehovah has provided for fear of falling into sin. Yehovah provides revelation to us so that we may know Him better and be able to function in His Kingdom more effectively, especially as evil increases and false teachings abound.

Are there examples in the Bible of the enemy counterfeiting what Yehovah does?  A few examples in Scripture are John 18:19-24, where Caiaphas (who was not a legitimate high priest) condemns the true High Priest, Yeshua.  In Revelation 7:3, Yehovah places a seal on those who belong to Him. The counterfeit can be found in Revelation 13:16, where the beasts will cause a mark to be placed on his followers.  Some other examples of counterfeits can be found in 2 Corinthians 11:3, 4, 13 and 14.  We need to be diligent in studying Scripture, praying and seeking Yehovah and learning to discern the spirits.  We want to respond only to the voice of the Holy Spirit.  In 1 John 4:1 we are admonished to test the spirits.

When your spirit visits Heaven, at first, you may not see, smell or hear very well, but this improves with practice.  Just as a newborn infant on Earth does not see clearly at first, but develops focus and perception over time, it takes time for us to develop our spiritual senses.  In addition, you may find yourself bombarded with distractions at first, but over time you get better at eliminating them and staying focused.

A sample visit to Heaven as recorded in my journal:

Yeshua asked where I would like to go today.  I replied that I would like to visit a new place, somewhere I’d never been.  He took me to the Golan Heights in the future when Lebanon will be part of Israel.  We went to the forests of Lebanon where the mighty cedars grow.  The trees were massive and very tall.  As I walked around, I saw some deer grazing. They looked at me and were not afraid.  They resumed eating.  I saw butterflies flitting about.  There were small flowers low to the ground, perhaps violets?  Also, a lot of ferns. I found a lake and sat on a log near Yeshua.  We watched swans floating gracefully on the water.  There were geese flying overhead. I heard birds chirping and singing, but I could not see them.  I asked what would happen to the old Earth when the new Earth came.  Yeshua said it would disintegrate, but the new Earth will be even better, as we move from glory to glory.  He said we would move freely from Heaven to Earth.
